Larry Hobeck of Sparta

Larry W. Hobeck, 75, of Sparta, passed away at 9:04 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, 2018 at his residence.

He was born to the late Troy J. and Myrtle (nee Wade) Hobeck on March 13, 1943 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

He married Virginia "Jenny" Young on Sept. 29, 1990 in Walsh, Illinois; she survives.

Larry worked at Spartan Printing for 27 years. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of First Baptist Church in Chester, Illinois.

Larry is survived by his wife, Jenny Hobeck, of Sparta; a son, Gary (Valerie) Hobeck of Perryville, Missouri; two stepsons, Roscoe (Rock) Handsbury of Sparta and Dave (Barbara) Handsbury of Louisville, Kentucky; stepdaughter, Gina Sutterer of Sparta; one brother, Carl (Pat) Hobeck of Chester; two sisters, Dolores (John) Norman of Fort Myers, Florida and Jacqueline (Al) Roberts of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and six grandchildren, a great-grandson and eight step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three children, Larry Hobeck Jr., Donna Hobeck and Terry Hobeck; two brothers, John Hobeck and Troy Hobeck; three sisters, Joann Bell, Lois Edwards and Annadean Turnbow; and one stepson, Dexter Handsbury.

Visitation for Larry Hobeck will be held 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 1 and 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2 at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester.

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester, with Dr. Mike Fogerson officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.
