Clarence R. Majewski, 85, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:10 a.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Clarence had been a farmer. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant.

Clarence was a member of the Farm Bureau and a life member of the Du Quoin American Legion Post 513. He loved to dance and take care of his garden and goats.

He was born June 2, 1932 at Tamaroa, the son of George and Ellen (Eater) Majewski.

He married Phyllis Stanick on October 17, 1953 at Mt. Vernon and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one son - Kenneth Majewski of Tamaroa, three daughters - Marilyn Woodside and husband Mike of Tamaroa, Charlotte Sanders of Du Quoin and Brenda Taylor of Du Quoin, daughter-in-law - Suzanne Majewski of Du Quoin, one brother - Leonard Majewski of O'Fallon, Mo., grandchildren - Brent Woodside and Shannen, Lacy Woodside, Kyle Woodside and Erica, Autumn Konkel and Josh, Cody Majewski and Tish, Becky Norris and Jordan, Amanda Majewski, Melissa Leffnert and Frank, Wendy Freeman, Jill Freeman, Chelsea Smith and Jesse, and Megan Taylor, 14 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son - Michael Majewski and one daughter - Carol Bowlin.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin American Legion and V.F.W. and the Army National Guard.

Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery at Tamaroa.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to masses, Du Quoin American Legion Color Guard or the donor's choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
