William David Garrett

<span>MARION -- William David Garrett, 77, formerly of Massac County and Okeechobee, Florida, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.</span>

<span>He was born March 30, 1939, in Eldorado, son of the late John Estel and Louise (Heck) Garrett. On July 17, 1966, he married the former Beverly Ann Breymeyer, and she preceded him in death on May 17, 2014.</span>

<span>Mr. Garrett had a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy from Southern Illinois University. He served as a Morse code intercept operator for the U.S. Army.</span>

<span>He was a farmer and later a plant mechanic at Electric Energy Inc. in Joppa until his retirement in 2004.</span>

<span>Survivors include his children, Mark Garrett of Carbondale and Martha (Michael) Bonner of Weston, Florida; two grandchildren, Allison and Andrew Bonner; two brothers, James (Liz) Garrett of Eldorado and John (Angie) Garrett of Olney; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.</span>

<span>He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Hendrix.</span>

<span>Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, in <span>Watson</span> Funeral Home in Eldorado. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the funeral home.</span>
