Connie Jo Dowdy

HARRISBURG -- Connie Jo Dowdy, 53, passed away at 10:57 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, in Harrisburg Medical Center.

She was born July 18, 1963, in Eldorado to Sue (Chamberlain) Thompson and the late Walter Thompson. On July 18, 2013, she married Billy Joe Dowdy, and he survives.

Connie worked for 20 years as a dialysis tech and most recently for Affiliated. She loved her profession and her patients.

She attended Dorrisville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Joe Dowdy of Harrisburg; mother, Sue Thompson of Harrisburg; son, Aaron Toothman and wife Alicia of Harrisburg; two granddaughters, Adalynn AnnMarie Toothman and Ariana Jo Toothman; sister, Debra Ledbetter and husband Keith of Harrisburg; two brothers, Tony Thompson and wife Kim of Harrisburg and Brian Thompson of Johnston City; several nieces and nephews; three stepsons, Richard Dowdy and wife Gwen of Forney, Texas, Bradley Dowdy and wife Stephanie of Harrisburg and Nathan Dowdy and wife Tina of Harrisburg; 10 stepgrandchildren, Britney, Bailey, Kobe, Graci, Keith, Jason, Brittany, Jourdon, Gavin and Blaine; four great-stepgrandchildren, Jacie, Jalyn, Jadyn and Taylyn; and grandmother, Ella May Brown of Dallas.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, George and Mary Chamberlain.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, in Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to the college fund for the granddaughters set up at Peoples National Bank. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
