Edith Jo McDaniel

<span>Edith Jo McDaniel, age 88, of Harrisburg, went to be with her Savior at 5:30 AM, Saturday, June 11, 2016 after a brief illness. </span>

<span>She leaves behind a loving daughter: Josie Lee (Nick) Brooks; two grandsons: Scott Brooks of Carmi and Bryan (Pam) Brooks of Crab Orchard; she had two great grandchildren, Amanda Jo of Harrisburg and Marcus who preceded her in death.</span>

<span>She was born in Tuckerman, Arkansas in 1927, the 5th child of William Franklin Creek and Maude Charlotte Lewey. They preceded her in death as did her brothers, Frankie Lee and Gerald Lewey and her sisters Dixie El Rae and Sarah O'Letha.</span>

<span>Jo, as her many friends called her, spent the last few years of an interesting life of traveling at Brookstone Assisted Living. She was loved by all. She had a beautiful voice and sang for the church group on Thursday evenings. She traveled the US in her younger years and lived for a time in Arizona with her daughter and family before coming to live in Harrisburg.</span>

<span>Most of her younger life she lived in Paris, IL where she was a homemaker. She was an avid bowler, loved to fish and read books by the hundreds! She loved her family and telling stories of escapades of her childhood. She will be missed by her family so much.</span>

<span>Graveside services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, June 13, 2016 at Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado. Rev. Joe Poirot will officiate. Those wishing to attend are asked to gather at the cemetery. There will be no visitation. Reed Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Oblong Christian Children's Home in Oblong, IL in her memory.
