The closure of the intersection of Granger Street and Sloan Street for Granger Street construction all day Friday could cause some traffic congestion, Harrisburg Police Chief Bob Smith said.

Of particular concern is the morning and mid-afternoon when students driving to and from the Harrisburg High School will need to find alternate routes. He is worried Park Street and Ogara Street will become clogged.

Smith said an officer may be stationed in the area during school times in case of problems.

He encourages people driving to the high school to take U.S. Route 45 to Barnett Street and Barnett to Granger Street as an alternative route.
