Harrisburg physician appointed to SIU board of trustees

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[CARBONDALE - Gov. Pat Quinn has made three new appointments to the Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees, including Dr. Roger Herrin.

Herrin, of Harrisburg, will serve a term that expires on Jan. 16, 2017. He replaces William Bonan II.

Herrin is president of RDK Management Services, which owns and manages three long-term care facilities in Southern Illinois.

He is past chairman of ComBank, Inc., a banking corporation that owns and operates seven community banks known as Community National Bank.

He currently serves on the board of the Illinois Finance Authority and formerly served on the Illinois Health Care Reform Task Force and as a board member of the former Illinois Health Facilities Authority.

Herrin is retired from the practice of surgical podiatry and sports medicine.

Also appointed to the board was Donald Lowery of Golconda who will serve a term that expires Jan. 19, 2015.

Lowery fills the vacancy created by the resignation of former SIU Board Chairman Roger Tedrick.

Lowery is a former Massac County state's attorney and is a retired judge from the First Judicial Circuit of Illinois.

He holds a bachelor of science degree in economics from SIU-C and a law degree from the SIU School of Law.
