Obituary: Mary L. (Jones) Combs

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary L. ( Jones) Combs, 66, of Equality, passed away at 11:11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.

She was born on June 30, 1944, in Rosiclare. She is the daughter of Geraldine (Hicks) and Ira Curtis. She was united in marriage to Richard C. Combs on Aug. 12, 1989; he preceded her in death on June 13, 2010.

Mary is survived by two sons, John Ditterline of Equality and Greg Bates of Harrisburg; two daughters, Paula (Ditterline) Thaxton and husband Dennis and Diana (Bates) Colboth and husband Charles of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Chad Ditterline, Kesha (Chad) Bates, Jayden Ditterline, Leisa Bates, Gregory Bates and Brianna Colboth; one great-grandson, Bayden Ditterline; and two great-granddaughters, Lydia Bates and Audrey Bates.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; an uncle, James T. Hicks who were raised as brother and sister; and grandson, Jordan Colboth.

Visitation for Mary will be held from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality. The Rev. Edward Shorty Alsip will be officiating with burial being held at Elmwood Cemetery near Equality. Internet condolences may be made at the Internet site www.vickeryfuneralchapel.com.

A million happy memories cannot ease a broken heart. The day God took you from us our world fell apart. Nothing can take away the love a heart holds dear. Our mom will be sadly missed and thought of often.
