Obituary: James R. Hill
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[James R. Hill, 83, of Galatia, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Sunday Feb. 5, 2012, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Galatia.
He was born on October 9, 1928, in Muddy to Roy and Nellie (Jones) Hill. James was married to Imogene (Allen) Hill on April 11, 1954.
He also served in the Korean War.
He is survived by his children Layton and Michele Hill of Raleigh, John and Shelia Hill of Las Vegas, Nev., Bruce Sr. and Elizabeth Hill of Seminole, Texas, Crystal and Geard Hill-Moore of St Louis, Mo., Bruce Jr. and Deanna Hill of Clarence, N.Y., Jennifer and Daren Jackson of Harrisburg, Amanda and Ashley Hill, both of Galatia and Amber Hill of Carrier Mills; several grandchildren, Misty and Ryan Ollis, Sarah and Padam Hejazifar, Kara Hill, Michael and Linsey Hill, Michele and Brandon Seigler, Jackie Hill, Breanna Hill and William Hill; several great-grandchildren, Kyle, Bruce III, Zeke, Addaya, Zedane, Azaria, Freddie, Jedidaih, Dallas, Ben, Patrick, Reagan and Reese; a sister, Lillie Thompson; and a brother, Donald Hill.
He was preceded by his parents; two sisters, Opal Gee and Tresse Cooper; an infant son, David Joe Hill; a son-in-law, James Thomas Humm Jr.; two great-granddaughters, Eric K. Humm and Peyton Addison Hill.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at the funeral home. Dr. Harrison Peyton will officiate with burial in the Raleigh Masonic Cemetery. Graveside Military rites by the Harrisburg and Carrier Mills American Legion and the Marion Honor Guard.
