From "Looking Back" as published daily in the Eldorado Daily Journal and The Daily Register July 18, 1936: Cedric Skaggs of Eldorado started digging a well at his new home a few days ago and when the hole was about 4 1/2 feet deep, he found a mother snake and eight little ones. They were killed. A week later he found 37 little ones and on one other occasion since he has found one young snake. So far 46 snakes have been killed since he started digging the well and it is not yet complete.
