Pedestrian struck crossing Commercial Street
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[A woman suffered apparently minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle while walking on Commercial Street across from the Parker Plaza shopping center 11:55 a.m. Thursday.
Lynda S. Upchurch, 61, received abrasions and a sore neck before being treated at Harrisburg Medical Center, Harrisburg Police Chief Bob Smith said.
Upchurch told Officer Brent Davis she was believed the road was clear when she walked into the road at Cecil Street, intending to stop at the center lane of Commercial Street, according to the accident report.
Jesse C. Pingleton, 81, Raleigh, told Davis he did not see Upchurch until his car was upon her. He hit the brakes and struck Upchurch, sending her onto the hood and windshield before she fell to the ground on the driver's side, according to a witness, the report indicates.
No citation were issued.
