Veteran Army sergeant and student Michael Spivey is presented the 2011 Student Veteran Recognition Award by Chad Flannery, dean for student services and enrollment, at the Veterans Day Ceremony at Southeastern Illinois College on Thursday, Nov. 10. Spivey served in the Army for eight years, and is currently working toward his criminal justice degree at SIC. He works as a deputy sheriff in Hardin County and also works for the Shawnee Correctional Center in Vienna.

Southeastern Illinois College on Thursday celebrated and honored the veterans on the campus and, for the kids, a look at a Humvee and the opportunity to meet a soldier.

Veteran Army sergeant and student Michael Spivey was presented the 2011 Student Veteran Recognition Award by Chad Flannery, dean for student services and enrollment, at the Veterans Day Ceremony at the college. 

Spivey served in the Army for eight years, and is currently working toward his criminal justice degree at SIC.  

He works as a deputy sheriff in Hardin County and also works for the Shawnee Correctional Center in Vienna.
