Galatia's pupils carol to a packed gym

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Galatia Elementary School pupils caroled to a packed gym Wednesday, ending their fall semester with the school's annual Christmas program.

Some classes performed seasonal favorite's like the first-graders' "Up on the House Top," the fifth-graders played bells and the sixth-graders sang a fast food inspired satire of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" replacing the phrase "true love gave to me" with "drive-through gave to me."

In all, 11 classes performed two songs each and it was the social event the morning in Galatia.

Every parking area within a 1-block radius of the school was taken up and even though chairs had been brought into the gym many family members were forced to stand for lack of seating.

At the end of the performance, as teachers were leading their classes back to the classrooms, Superintendent Beth Rister had to make the unfortunate announcement one business was calling for a towing company to remove vehicles from its parking lot and she encouraged those parked at businesses to rush back to their vehicles.

After the morning program the classes were holding their Christmas parties and saying their goodbyes until school resumes in January.
