Help tornado relief with chance to win Whipple Creek guitar
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[A Union County guitar maker with Saline County roots wants to do his part in helping Harrisburg recovery from the Feb. 29 tornado.
When his friends decided to raise funds for tornado relief, Terry Whipple of Whipple Creek Guitars in Wolf Lake knew there was something he could do.
"The people of Southern Illinois immediately responded to help their neighbors. In Carbondale and the little town of Cobden, the musicians, businesses and artists organized a three-day music event to raise awareness and money to benefit the tornado victims. I decided to donate a guitar," he explained.
A fundraising website was soon launched and for every donation of $10 increments it gave the donors a change to win.
"This is a project near and dear to my heart as I grew up in and around those areas and know people whose lives were changed as a result of that event," he added.
The deadline to make donations is Saturday, May 19. Whipple hopes to hold a drawing in Harrisburg sometime around the Memorial Day weekend.
