Dream Baskets to hold reopening event today

Owner Julie Kuppart said they will be holding a grand reopening event from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Cookies and lemonade will be provided.

"We're just excited to be back open," said Kuppart, who was able to spare a few moments to answer questions during a very busy first day back.

Kuppart said that after the tornado hit Dream Baskets, she practically had to start completely over with the business.

"We had no windows, no north wall," said Kuppart. "Just three walls and a foundation. All of our fixtures were damaged and all the inventory was lost."

Kuppart said she feels very fortunate to have been able to reopen her business so quickly.

"The person who built it was here at 7 a.m. that morning and our insurance adjuster was here the next day," she said.

Kuppart wants to welcome customers, old and new, to come visit the Dream Baskets crew tonight and see the new layout and design of the store, while celebrating the rebuilding of a portion of town that was nearly in ruins only six weeks ago.

"I think it's just one step closer to the rebuilding of the town as a whole," said Kuppart.
