</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[An overwhelming number of readers oppose beeps at the polls when the machine spots "undervotes." In yesterday's poll, "Should voting machines 'beep' in warning if you don't vote for all the offices?" 83 percent or 66 votes were cast for "NO." Fourteen votes or 18 percent of the total ballot of 80 said "YES."
And we didn't even beep at those who read but did not vote.
