Eldorado's Independence Day celebration July 3 is growing again, topping last year's event that was billed as bigger than the year before.

As the Eldorado Men's Club budget for fireworks and musical entertainment has increased, crowds can expect a longer show of about set to music.

"We say every year we're going to quit, but it just keeps getting better," Men's Club member Sean Watson said.

The gates of the Eldorado Sports Complex open 5:30 p.m. The River band begins playing at 6 p.m. followed by the Eldorado Alumni Band and Bad Hat.

The fireworks show begins at dusk and should last 30 to 40 minutes.

Because the event is on school property, the crowd may not bring fireworks or alcohol.

"This will be the third years for us being at the high school. Each year has been bigger. The public enjoys it and it's a nice atmosphere with family entertainment," Watson said.

Legence Bank is sponsoring an inflatable playroom for kids. The Eldorado Garden Study Club members will be painting the faces of children and conducting activities for kids. Ferrell Hospital and Main Street Eldorado may have booths, Watson said.

The Eldorado Lions Club will be selling corn dogs and the Eldorado Rotary Club will sell pork chops.

The Eagle Backers is also selling concessions.

The Eldorado Raleigh Park Board gives the Men's Club money for the fireworks show and the Men's Club sponsored a bowling tournament this year that raised some extra money.

Watson invites anyone who would like to help make the show even bigger to send a check made out to Eldorado Men's Club to Sean Watson, 1517 Locust St., Eldorado, Ill. 62930.
