Morning crash disrupts power in Harrisburg

A car accident early this morning disrupted power service to people in the area of Taylor Field.

The crash happend between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. when Shawn Mathis was driving south on Land Street, crashed into a stop sign, power pole and fire hydrant and turned his vehicle onto its side, according to Sgt. Todd Cavender who was at the scene.

The officer who handled the accident and documented the details, Whipper Johnson, was in court this morning testifying in the murder trial of James Burns.

Chief Bob Smith said the electricity was restored to affected customers and the hydrant was replaced this morning.
