The Harrisburg School Board made a few personnel moves at a special meeting Tuesday night.

Two resignations were accepted. Susan Nyberg, who is in the retirement pipeline, decided to retire a year earlier than scheduled. Agriculture teacher Lynne Wilson, who was laid off and recalled, decided to refuse the recall notice and take a job somewhere else, Superintendent Dennis Smith said this morning. Since the recall last month actually involved adding back positions, the agriculture position will be posted for bids by Harrisburg Education Association members or hiring of an outside person, Smith said.

A proposal by East Side Principal Bryce Jerrell to move the Herman Reading teacher out of the program to a fifth grade classroom was approved, in a way. Herman Reading Program Teacher Lori McClusky will be moved to a Title I math position and the fifth grade teaching position will be posted for bids or hiring.

Jerrell projected the fifth grade to have over 27 pupils per classroom in the upcoming school year if a teacher was not added to the fifth-grade roster.

Julie Beal was hired as a high school cheerleading sponsor.
