West Side holds event to promote reading

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[West Side Primary School in Harrisburg held a "story character day" Friday to promote reading. Pupils and faculty were invited to dress up as their favorite character from a book.

"The sole purpose of this is to get kids excited about reading," said West Side Principal Scott Dewar.

The event came at the heels of the book fair, which was held last week.

Kids paraded around the playground in their costumes Friday morning.

"We had a lot of participation," said Dewar.
