The annual Catskin Days is fast approaching and the town of Carrier Mills is excited about this year's festivities.

“This year’s Catskin Days is shaping up to be one of the biggest so far,” said Catskin Days committee member Shawn Wilkins.

The three-day long event begins Thursday at 5 p.m. and ends Saturday night. Thursday is Gospel Night and will include several musical performances and a beauty pageant.

“We are very pleased to have some top-notch entertainment this year,” said Wilkins.

Friday's festivities begin at 5 p.m. and will include a chili supper at the Municipal Building, performances by dance teams, a pet costume parade and a musical performance by A Band Called River.

Saturday's events will be kicked off by a pancake breakfast from 7-10 a.m. hosted by the junior class. For those who do not fill up on pancakes in the morning, the Fire Department is hosting a BBQ lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The main event, the Catskin Days Parade hosted by the Bank of Marion, begins at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
“It’s shaping up to be a pretty good size parade this year,” said Wilkins.

After the parade, Saturday's carnival will include several musical performances and a cake walk at 5p.m.

Each night there will be a U.S.A. Championship Wrestling event free on Main Street at 8 p.m. Thursday night former WWE superstar Eugene will be featured, Friday night Matt Boyce will be the main wrestler and Saturday night 1984 Carrier Mills graduate Mike Rapada will be featured.

Every day there will be a variety of food and flea market vendors available throughout the carnival.

“We have several new vendors this year and we even have a horse and carriage that will be offering rides around town. We feel we have something for everyone this year, some good family entertainment,” said Wilkins.
