Federation cosmic bowling coming this month
The Saline County 4-H Federation is sponsoring an evening of Cosmic Bowling at Ross Cottom Lanes on Friday, Feb. 21. All 4-H Club members and adult volunteers are invited to join us from 6 to 8 p.m. to bowl a game or two and meet some 4-H members from other counties.
Members are encouraged to increase their club membership by inviting a friend to bowl and to find out about 4-H. Saline County 4-H participants will again be joined by 4-H youth and adults from the other counties in our six-county unit - Gallatin, Hamilton, Hardin, Pope, and White.
The cost is $3.50 per game, per person. Don't forget to bring additional money for refreshments that evening.
In order for us to have enough lanes reserved, club leaders or individual families must call the Extension office at (618) 252-8391 by Friday, Feb. 14, to RSVP.
Cosmic bowling community service
We are collecting Birthday Bag items to deliver to area food pantries. We ask that families attending Cosmic Bowling bring any of the following items if possible: Cake Mixes, Canned Frosting, Party Plates and Napkins, Birthday Candles, Birthday Gift Sacks, Decorations and/or Birthday Cards.

4-H Management Committee
The Saline County 4-H Management Committee met on February 3, 2020 to elect officers, set the meeting dates for the year, hear reports from the 4-H Federation, and to approve changes to the 4-H Handbook voted on at the 4-H Livestock Committee meeting.
Serving as officers this year are: James Bond - Chairman, Tim Arnold - Vice chairman, and Eran Oglesby-Angleton - Secretary. This committee consists of one appointed adult volunteer from each county 4-H Club and the current Saline County 4-H Federation officers.
The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2020 at the Extension office.
Quality Assurance and Ethics Certification Training
Quality Assurance and Ethics Certification training will be required in 2020 for any youth enrolled in one or more of the following livestock project areas: Cats, Dogs, Horse & Pony, Poultry and Rabbits.
All 4-H members enrolled in an animal project area are required to complete the online QAEC course one time in order to stay enrolled. The training is to be completed online at: http://web.extension.illinois.edu/qaec/
Youth only need to complete the training once. The deadline for completing the training is June 1, 2020. This statewide rule applies to 4-H members who exhibit live animals.
Upon completing the training, youth are asked to please print out the certificate and bring it in to the Extension office. The State 4-H Office is notified when an exhibitor completes his/her training.
