Old Soldiers and Sailors Reunion returns this weekend

STONEFORT - The Old Soldiers and Sailors Reunion returns this weekend to Stonefort, featuring several events beginning Thursday and one important deadline today.

Today is the deadline for submissions for the beauty pageant. The entry fee is $35, and the entry must have the child's name, age, parents' names, hometown, three hobbies and what they want to be when they grow up. There is a meeting at 7 p.m. at the reunion grounds today for those participating. Girls will compete in formalwear only this year. Both a Little Miss Stonefort Reunion and a Miss Stonefort Reunion will be crowned.

Age divisions are Little Miss: 0-12 months, 13-23 months, 2-4 years, 5-6 years and 7-9 years; Miss: 10-12 and 13 years and up.

Thursday night will feature a gospel sing at the reunion grounds.

Friday evening, the Carrier Mills American Legion will host a fish fry beginning at 5 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., the Little Egypt Quilters will have a "Quilts of Valor" presentation. At 6 p.m., Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School cheerleaders will have a program. From 6 to 10 p.m., the Little Egypt Carnival will be ongoing, and from 7 to 10 p.m. the Travis Parks Band will play.

The Legion fish fry returns at 5 p.m. Saturday, with the Miss/Little Miss Stonefort Reunion Beauty Pageant at 6 p.m. The Little Egypt Carnival again will be ongoing from 6 to 10 p.m. and Reunion Band will play from 7 to 10 p.m.

There will be a 50/50 raffle, food trucks, games and vendors each night.
