Egyptian Area on Aging rep discusses healthcare fraud with Du Quoin residents

DU QUOIN - A small group of residents gathered Wednesday afternoon at the Du Quoin Public Library to hear a discussion on healthcare fraud conducted by a representative of the Egyptian Area on Aging in Carterville.

Rindi Reeves, who serves as program coordinator for Egyptian Area on Aging, said the agency routinely provides programs and services for seniors in Southern Illinois. One of the programs provided is the Senior Medicare Patrol program,

"The idea is to educate consumers on scams and healthcare fraud, particularly related to Medicare," Reeves said.

A nationwide program, SMP is administered through the Area Agency on Aging in Chicago.

Reeves said it is the agency's goal to get the word out to seniors either through group presentations or one-on-one visits.
