Harrisburg scouts collect food donations

HARRISBURG - The combined efforts of two Cub Scout packs and one Boy Scout troop along with a generous public resulted in more than 3,600 food items being provided to local food pantries.

Harrisburg Cub Scout Pack 152 collected 2,647 food items and Harrisburg Cub Scout Pack 23 collected 958 on Saturday. Pack 23 was assisted by Boy Scout Troop 23.

As part of Scouting for Food, scouts place bright blue plastic bags at the doors of residences the preceding Saturday. A week later, they collect bags and bring the donated food items to food pantries.

Pack 23 sent their food collected to 4C's, and Pack 152 sent theirs to Harvest Deliverance Center.
