Man charged with firing gun during argument at house

A Chester man was arrested in the early morning of Oct. 20 for allegedly firing shots from a handgun during an argument, according to Chester Police.

Charles R. Hoskins, 47, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful reckless discharge of a firearm, according to a news release from the Chester Police Department. He was released after posting $1,000 cash bond, according to the Randolph County Sheriff's Department.

The release said a resident of a home on the 300 block of Lakeview Drive called police around 7:17 a.m. Oct. 20 reporting a man firing a gun outside the home. Polcie said the man, later identified as Hoskins, was reportedly in an argument with his spouse and firing a handgun randomly outside of the home.

Police were able to safely remove the other residents from the home and eventually make contact with Hoskins, who remained armed inside. Contact was eventually established with Hoskins, who agreed to surrender.
