Mulkeytown man killed in wreck

PERRY COUNTY - A 36-year-old Mulkeytown man died Monday, the result of a two-vehicle accident at 6:05 a.m. on Illinois 152, about two miles east of Illinois 127 in Perry County.

Tim Curwick, who was on his way to work at Nascote Industries in Nashville, was the victim.

According to a state police report, a truck driven by Wesley J. Borden of Columbia, was eastbound on Illinois 152. Curwick's GMC Acadia was westbound on the same road when Borden's truck crossed the centerline into the path of the GMC. The vehicles collided in a head-on/sideswipe manner. Curwick was pronounced dead by Perry County Coroner Paul Searby.

Both highway lanes were closed for approximately six hours for crash investigation and scene clean up. The state police continue to investigate the incident. Borden, who was uninjured, was initially ticketed for improper lane usage.
