First quilting show Saturday at Saline Museum

SALINE COUNTY - Fans of quilts and quilting will get the opportunity to enjoy a new quilt show Saturday at the Saline Creek Pioneer Village and Museum in Harrisburg.

Mark Motsinger, president of the Saline County Historical Society, said the quilt show is experimental and will be a test to gauge interest for possible future shows.

"This is kind of a trial thing," Motsinger said. "We want to see how it goes."

He said the quilt show won't be a competition, but instead an opportunity for beautiful local quilts to be displayed.

Motsinger said quilts will be on display from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the main part of the museum and poorhouse and church as well.

"If the weather is OK, we'll have some outside as well," Motsinger said.

Vendors will be on site as well. Some will have quilting items for sale, and others will have food and drink, including some baked goods.

Parking for the event is free. The museum is located at 1600 S. Feazel St. in Harrisburg.
