Pillars of strength CrossFit Little Egypt hosts Battle in the Burg 2018

HARRISBURG - Athletes from across five states swarmed the Saline County Fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday to compete in the Fourth Annual Battle in the Burg CrossFit competition sponsored by CrossFit Little Egypt of Harrisburg.

According to event organizers, 255 athletes competed in the event, and about 300 spectators witnessed the two-day competition.

Jerry King, a trainer at CrossFit Little Egypt, said the event has become more popular in the region each year.

"It's gotten bigger each year," he said. "We had to cut off entries at 85 3-person teams."

He said he's excited about the energy the Battle in the Burg creates each summer for Harrisburg and the surrounding area.

"We've got a tradition now, and we've got a really great setup. They're really good to us at the fairground, and there's lot of trees with shade so competitors can set up their tents while they're waiting to compete. It's awesome," King said.
