Electronics recycling, disposal at municipal lot Saturday

CARRIER MILLS - Those with electronics to dispose will have the opportunity Saturday to rid themselves of some unwanted items.

Electronics recycling and disposal will be 9 a.m. to noon (or until the trailer is full) at the Carrier Mills Municipal Building Parking Lot, 101 N. Mill St.

Disposal in trash containers of nearly all electronic devices is now prohibited. Those items must be recycled.

At Saturday's electronics recycling and disposal program, a recycler will be present to collect electronic items that are broken or no longer wanted.

There is a small cost associated with disposal.

Some changes have been made since the last recycling day in Carrier Mills. Console and big-screen TVs have a $10 fee. Small-screen TVs, computer monitors and small flat-screen TVs cost $5.

Due to increased recycling costs, vacuums, microwaves, printers, DVRs, VCRs and copiers now have a $1 charge for recycling.

The event is not limited to Carrier Mills residents. Anyone in the local area may bring items.

Tires and paint no are longer accepted.
