Consolidated Grain and Barge makes donation to PCHS

PINCKNEYVILLE - Pinckneyville Community High School #101 Superintendent Keith Hagene announced Tuesday that Consolidated Grain and Barge Co. has donated $4,250 to the school.

The contribution will cover 100 percent of the business community matching grant requirement of the Illinois State Board of Education's Three-Circle Grant for FFA & SAE Instructor Extended Time.

The Three-Circle Grant is designed to provide a minimum of 400 hours of extended work time for agriculture instructors outside of the regular school day and school year, creating access to advanced educational activities and opportunities for students enrolled in agriculture education.

Pinckneyville Community High School is entering the second year of instructor-led agriculture classes after being forced to suspend the program during the recent financial crisis in education in Illinois. Hagene said business community support from Consolidated Grain and Barge will help insure the quality of educational opportunities and encourage the rapid growth and success to the AG and FFA programs at PCHS.
