Coulterville tops Junior Legion, 10-1

The Steeleville Junior American Legion baseball traveled to Coulterville for a baseball game July 7, but they could only muster one run on the day.

Coulterville scored one in the fourth, eight in the fifth and one in the sixth to earn the 10 -1 win. Nathan Reitz went 1 for 2 with a walk and a run scored. Chase Newby was 1 for 3 with a double. Zach Mevert went 1 for 3 with an RBI. Ross Coleman and Carter Wasson each had a hit for Steeleville. Newby pitched four innings, giving up one run with four walks and three strikeouts.

Down 2-0 after the top of the first, the Steeleville Junior Legion baseball team exploded for eight in the bottom half of the first. Steeleville's first five batters reached and scored in the inning. Harrisburg cut the lead to 8-4 in the top of third before Steeleville answered with one in their half of the third. Harrisburg put three more on the board in the fifth making it a 9-7 game. Steeleville again plated a run in the bottom of the fifth making it 10-7 and added three in the bottom of the sixth putting them on top 13-7. Harrisburg managed two runs in the seventh but it wasn't enough as Steeleville held on for the 13-9 win.

Dylan Hill went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI. Zach Mevert went 1 for 3 with three RBI, two walks and two runs scored. Seth Barker was 2 for 2 with three runs scored, a walk and hit by a pitch. Lane Lazenby went 1 for 4, a walk and two RBI. Nathan Reitz was 1 for 1 with two walks and two RBI. Barker pitched the first three innings, allowing seven hits, striking out five and giving up four runs.

Dylan Hill worked the final three innings, walking three, striking out five and allowing five runs.
