Craig files to run for Saline County clerk, creating GOP primary

SALINE COUNTY -- The Saline County Clerk and Recorder's office will now feature a primary contest, and an additional candidate also has filed for sheriff on the Republican side.

Current Saline County Board member Roger L. Craig has filed as a Republican candidate for the office of Saline County Clerk and Recorder. Craig will face incumbent Kim Buchanan in the March primary. The winner of that race will face Democrat Julie Dunn in the November General Election. Dunn is running unopposed in the primary.

In addition, Republican Casey Perkins has filed as a candidate for Saline County Sheriff, making the primary a three-way contest. Perkins will face Craig Williams and J. Whipper Johnson in March. The winner of the primary will face Democrat Ken Clore in the general election. Clore, the current Saline County Chief Deputy, is unopposed in the March primary.

Saline County State's Attorney Jayson Clark, who has filed for election to the two-year unexpired term for the state's attorney's office, is the only candidate from either party to file for the office. Clark is a Democrat.

Current Saline County Treasurer Jeff Murrie, a Republican, is running unopposed in his party's primary for the treasurer's office. Murrie will face Democrat Natalie Brown Miller in the general election.
