Raleigh man gets 34 years for sex crimes against a minor

SALINE COUNTY - A Raleigh man has been sentenced to 34 years in prison following his conviction for sex crimes against a minor child, according to a news release from Saline County State's Attorney Jayson Clark.

Judge Walden E. Morris sentenced Kevin A. Johnson, 42, to a total of 34 years in Illinois Department of Corrections custody after Johnson was found guilty of three counts of criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault

The bench trial was Oct. 2.

Illinois State Police investigated the allegations, which occurred in Raleigh, authorities said.

Based on investigation interviews, Johnson was charged with five separate incidents between Oct. 1, 2015, and Jan. 18, 2016. Saline County Assistant State's Attorney Jason Olson handled the successful prosecution of the case.

Johnson must serve 85 percent of the sentence imposed on each of the three counts of criminal sexual assault and must register as a sex offender for the term of his life.
