Harrisburg auctioning off 2017 eclipse banners

HARRISBURG – The city of Harrisburg is taking bids through 4 p.m. Thursday for leftover banners commemorating the total solar eclipse of Aug. 21.

Because the bids are city property and are deemed no longer necessary or useful to the city, they will be sold to high bidders.

The minimum bid for the banners are $100 per banner.

In case of a tie, a blind draw will be conducted.

Bids will be opened at Thursday's council meeting at 6 p.m.

According to the city's ordinance regarding bidding, city council may accept the highest bid or offer whose bid meets the requirements of the ordinance.

The city has the right to reject any and all bids or offers and may waive any informalities or irregularities in the bidding.

The city also reserves the right to review and study any and all bids and make an award within 30 days after the bids have been opened and publicly read.

There are five banners available.
