Market coupons available for Du Quoin-area seniors

Du Quoin-area seniors living on fixed incomes are eligible to receive free coupons to use at the local farmers market.

Starting July 12, the coupons will be distributed at area senior center with the aim of helping senior adults obtain fresh fruits and vegetables at local markets.

The coupons will be free for seniors in Illinois who are age 60 or over and have an income that is no more than $1,860 per month for individuals and $2,504 per month for couples. A completed and signed application is required for each eligible senior adult.

The coupons and applications will be distributed during normal business hours at the Gold Plate in Du Quoin.

The coupons can be redeemed through the end of September at the Du Quoin Farmers Market, which takes place from 7:30 to 11 a.m. each Saturday at Keyes Park; or the Pinckneyville Farmers Market, which takes place from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays at Kellerman's Feed Store.
