Autopsy indicated Henshaw died from spinal fracture

HARRISBURG – Saline County State's Attorney Mike Henshaw, who died late Wednesday night, was killed by a spinal fracture from a fall down stairs, according to Saline County Coroner Jerry Watson.

Watson said pathologist Dr. James Jacobi performed the autopsy at the Williamson County Morgue Friday and determined that Henshaw died from a fatal cervical spine fracture.

"The injury is consistent with a fall near the stair case at his residence," Watson said in a news release.

Watson said at this time no foul play is suspected. However, because Henshaw was a state's attorney and a retired judge, a full investigation is being conducted by Watson's office, Harrisburg Police Department and Illinois State Police.
