Harrisburg Spring Cleanup coming first week of April

HARRISBURG – Harrisburg Streets and Public Improvements Commissioner Natalie Miller said she wants to remind residents that the city's annual Spring Cleanup event is the first week of April.

"The city is having its annual Spring Cleanup to allow its citizens to get rid of unwanted items that aren't necessarily picked up by trash services," Miller said.

The cleanup is 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday the first week of April.

Miller said those who wish to dispose of items must be city residents, and they must take items to be disposed to the city's property at North Veterans Drive.

"They'll have to bring it to us," she said. "We aren't going to go get them."

Proof of residency – a driver's license, a water bill or other documents will be required. Miller also said some items are not permitted.

Those prohibited items are household garbage, demolition materials like lumber, roofing and building materials, tires, batteries, electronics and paint cans.
