Eldorado man killed Sunday in car accident

<span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">WILLIAMSON COUNTY - A 21-year-old Eldorado man died in an early-morning car wreck Sunday in Williamson County.</span></span>

<span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Carl Austin Gollihur died from injuries sustainted in the wreck, according to Williamson County Coroner Mike "Junior" Burke. The accident occurred at 3:51 a.m. in the eastbound lane of Illinois 13 at the intersection of DeYoung Frontage Road. </span></span>

<span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Police state that Gollihur was travelling east when he struck a semi-tractor trailer that was crossing the intersection.</span></span>

<span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">The accident is under investigation by Marion Police Department, Illinois State Police and the coroner's office.</span></span>

<span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Gollihur was a 2013 graduate of Eldorado High School, and EHS Principal Ryan Hobbs said his former educators were saddened to learn of his passing.</span></span>

<span style="color: #000000;">&ldquo;<span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">On behalf of the Eldorado school system, we are very sorry to hear of his death,&rdquo; Hobbs said. &ldquo;He was here during my second year as principal, and he was a very enthusiastic and bright student. He also was a very talented athlete.&rdquo;</span></span>
