Thomas Alden Alexander

HARRISBURG - Thomas Alden Alexander, 83, passed away at 12:33 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, in Harrisburg Medical Center.

He was born March 26, 1933, in Harrisburg to Luther and Margie Bell (Dixon) Alexander. On March 3, 1961, he married Mary Anne (Endsley), and she survives.

Tom was a licensed land surveyor for the Illinois Department of Transportation, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of First Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Anne Alexander of Harrisburg; daughter, Karen and husband Blake McConnell of Harrisburg; son, Steve and wife Pam Alexander of Murray, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Allie and husband Dustin Alsbrooks of Waverly, Kentucky, Braden and Paige McConnell of Harrisburg and Dylan and Emma Alexander of Murray, Kentucky; great-granddaughter, Ellery Alsbrooks of Waverly, Kentucky; sister, Marianne and husband Gene Lyon of Harrisburg; brother, Curt Alexander of Harrisburg; sister-in-law, Janette Alexander of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Rachel Anne Alexander; and brothers, Guthrie and Lyndel "Toad" Alexander.

Funeral services will be at noon, Friday, Nov. 25, in First Church of God in Harrisburg with the Rev. Dan Masters officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Veterans rites will be conducted by Harrisburg and Carrier Mills American Legion, the VFW and Navy. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Church of God, for those who wish. Envelopes will be available at the church.
