Lindell "Butch" Prather

HARRISBURG - Lindell "Butch" Prather, 77, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, in Harrisburg.

He was born Sept. 12, 1939, in Raleigh to the late Thomas Hubert and Essie Iola (Modglin) Prather.

He worked for Ford Motor Company and Peabody Coal Company.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Margaret (Humphrey) Parther of Harrisburg; daughter, Melissa Portee of Harrisburg; three sons, Gary (Kim) Prather of Eldorado, Jerry Prather of Muddy and Scott (Tammi) Prather of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Megan (Darren) Ellison, Molly (Rhett) Hughes, Casie Prather, Ethan (Elizabeth) Prather, Samantha Prather and Krista Prather; six great-grandchildren, Hunter Winters, Bryden Prather, Brendalynn Winters, Bailey Book, Lincoln Ellison and Tesslynn Prather; brother, Willard Prather of Raleigh; two sisters, Juanita Stevens of Raleigh and Onita (Junior) Furlong of Harrisburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at noon Friday, Oct. 28, in Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. Burial will be in Ingram Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.
