Huck's stabbing suspect appears in court

Deangelo Cowper, 33, of Harrisburg appeared in court on Wednesday afternoon after being arrested in connection with a stabbing attack that took place on Monday.

Cowper is charged with one count of aggravated battery and one count of possession of a weapon by a felon. He is accused of stabbing a man in the chest after a verbal exchange in the parking lot of the 600 West Poplar Street Location of Huck's Convenience Food Store.

Huck's Convenience Food Store, owned by Martin & Bayley, based in Carmi, would not comment on the situation.

As of Monday, the victim had been treated at Harrisburg Medical Center and transferred to an area hospital for further treatment, for fear of possible arterial complications. His condition has been withheld.

Cowper is currently in custody at the Saline County Jail, and will return to court later this month for his next hearing.
