Robert Knight Holland, 85, Green Valley, Ariz.

Robert Knight Holland, 85, passed away peacefully at his Green Valley, Ariz., home on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. Born March 15, 1931 in Champaign, IL, to the late Elizabeth (Stein) and Knight O. Holland, Bob lived most of his life in the great state of Illinois, only recently relocating to sunny Arizona.

He married Ann Durham on September 5, 1970 in Hamburg, IL, and she survives. Other survivors include one son, Geoff Holland of Cottonwood, IL, one daughter, Melissa Holland of Tucson, Ariz., and one sister, Barbara Sidler of Fargo, ND.

From 1952-54 Bob served in the Army. He attended the University of Illinois shortly after. He was employed as a professional draftsman.

Bob enjoyed strumming his guitar, playing the violin, and listening to the classics, with Mozart and Johnny Cash being his favorites. Mowing the yard, tinkering with tools in the basement, and political discussions were a few of his preferred pastimes.

The family has chosen to donate his body to science and cremate the remains. A private celebration of life will be held this summer in Cottonwood, IL. Donations in Bob's memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
