East Side to get new scoreboard.

Eastside Intermediate School is moving forward with the purchase of a new scoreboard after businesses donate to the cause.

Farmers State Bank and the Son's of the American Legion Post no.167 both donated money to the school to help purchase a new $3000 scoreboard for the gymnasium.

"We are very proud to give back to our community and our schools," said Arla Wasson, Director of Marketing and Business development for Farmers.

Wasson along with her Assistant Emma Davis presented a check to Frankie Lee Nicholes a fourth grader who plays on the girls basketball team.

"We are glad to be able to help," said Greg Hodson, Commander of the Son's of the American Legion post no.167

Hodson was there to represent the Son's and presented a check to Jack Ford and Connor Heshaw who both play for the boys fourth grade basketball team.

The current scoreboard was part of the original construction in 1979 and has served the school very well for the past 36 years.

"We really appreciate the donations from both organizations," Principal Brandon Henshaw said.

The new scoreboard will come equipped with remote control which, as Henshaw points out, will allow the coaches to get more involved in the game due to the fact they are often in charge of running the board during games.

"If we can get another 30 years out of this new board we will be setting pretty good," Henshaw said.

The board is utilized regularly both during games and practices as well as during the P.E. classes on some occasions.
