Middle school takes you to wonderland.

The Harrisburg Middle School students are bringing an old Disney classic to the stage at the Harrisburg Middle School.

Director Hannah Drake and assistant Director Jennifer Irvin are putting the finishing touches on the middle school production of Alice and Wonderland Jr.

"I am so excited to see these kids giving their all," said Drake. "They have worked really hard to put this all together."

The show is based on the 1951 Disney film "Alice and Wonderland" and the novels "The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" by Lewis Carroll.

With three different Alice's, two different Cheshire Cats, and a cast of nearly 30 middle school age kids, Drake and production staff are striving to see that the final product comes together without a hitch.

John Hart of Hart's music provided the light and sound equipment for the show, and John's wife, Janet Hart-former Home Economics teacher at Malan Junior High School-assisted by Gareth York, helped with costumes.

Several others worked tirelessly behind the scenes including: Maddie Kennedy and Jack Gulley (Student Helpers); Bradley Frailey and Alex McRoy (Lights); and Sara DeNeal (Set Design).

The colorful cast of characters include: Alyssa Irvin (Alice), Madeleine DeNeal (Queen of Hearts), Patrick Krahel (Mad Hatter/Door Knob), Jonah McGuire (White Rabbit), Ravyn Gauch (Caterpillar), Shelby Sims and Makenna Markham (Cheshire Cat 1 & 2), Molly Ryder (DoDo Bird), Blake Eversmann (Tweedle Dee), Isaiah Mitchell (Tweedle Dum), Victoria Higgs (Small Alice) and Callie Oxford (Tall Alice/ Mathilda)

Dance Ensemble: Hannah Bolin, Kirsten Eversmann, Halle Lane, Aubrey Pullum, Shelby SIms, Cash Thomas, Grayson Osman, and Chloe Williams. All of which play several different parts during the show.

Hannah Drake and cast would like to say a very special thank you to Mr. John Crabb, Mr. Gabe Angelly, The HMS custodial staff and all of the parents and set construction crew.

Performances are this Friday and Saturday at the Harrisburg Middle School, starting at 7 p.m. each night.
