Both sides announced they are ready for trial in the Todd Fort case.
The trial is set to begin 9 a.m. Sept. 19 with jury selection. Defense attorney Bryan Drew indicated he could bring up a motion for change of venue at that time if it appears seating a jury will be difficult due to pretrial publicity.
Fort, 44, a former chief deputy and Harrisburg School Board president, is charged with several counts of sexual misconduct involving a former female intern at the Saline County Sheriff's Department when she was 16 and 17 years old. Sexual relations with a 16-year-old are illegal; relations with a 17-year-old are illegal for someone in a position of authority over the minor.
The case has been reset several times, most recently from an Aug. 29 trial date. Drew needed more time to secure expert witnesses to review evidence, he said.
Fort was arrested July 19, 2010. He is currently held at the Jackson County jail awaiting his trial date.
