Ledford Liberty Belles know their history

The question of the month, "Do you know the day and year for Illinois Statehood?"

The members of the Ledford Liberty Belles of the Saline County Homemakers know their state's history. Dec. e, 1818 is the date in question.

At their Dec. 4 meeting, the Belles filled out the 2019 program booklets and officers for the upcoming year were elected: President Barb Lambert; First Vice President Romaine Short; Secretary Elizabeth Woodworth; Treasurer Dana Mulvaney and Crafts, Shareen Rose Winkleman.

All members will assist with health and safety, community activities and International Night. Dues for the coming year were collected.

Barb Lambert passed out cookbooks made up of the recipes collected at our bakeless bake sale.

Lisa Gulley reported on her Christmas shopping for the family from the Angel Tree. The gifts have been purchased and she will wrap and deliver them to their grandmother before the holiday. We appreciate the work Lisa did making this event come together.

The Belles version of traveling bingo was played. As usual, fun and laughter were the feature of the evening.

The hostesses Wanda Raley and Elizabeth Woodworth served refreshments to the following attendees: Debbie Zarbock, Dana Malvaney, Menthia Jackson, Lisa Gulley, Barb Lambert, Romaine Short, Torchy Schork, Kim Dunn, Shareen Winkleman and Wanda Pearcy.

The next meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 8 at Brookstone. Those attending should bring an "After Christmas" item in a bag for exchange.
