Buchheit's Sparta store raises $1,200 to fight cancer

Buchheit Retail of Sparta has raised $1,229 for Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois. Hundreds of customers and team members bought donation cards, color-changing cups, wristbands and No One Fights Alone T-shirts during October, ultimately to benefit cancer patients in Sparta.

In all, Buchheit stores across the country raised $10,125.52 this year, all donated to local organizations that provide services to cancer patients. Buchheit features merchandise for the home, garden and farm.

The Sparta Buchheit store has chosen to donate all proceeds raised at their location to Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois, which provides medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, and urologic oncology services in Sparta and Randolph County. CCSI is affiliated with several National Cancer Institute-supported research organizations which provide advanced research and treatment opportunities.

The Buchheit family has witnessed many of its members "fight the beast," a phrase used by Buchheit CEO Tim Buchheit. "No One Fights Alone" is the name of Buchheit's cancer-fighting initiative. It is essential to the Buchheit family that they give back to the communities which have supported them over 84 years of operation.

Buchheit Retail operates eight stores: Herculaneum, House Springs, Perryville and Jackson in Missouri; and Jacksonville, Greenville, Centralia, and Sparta in Illinois.
