Alumni Corner: A weekly review of local athletes in college

<strong>Ryne Roper - Union</strong><br />Roper earned the save throwing the final inning giving up one earned run and striking out two batters in Union's 6-5 road win at Harding University.<br />At the plate, Roper went 0-for-2 with two walks as the Bulldogs improved to 11-1 on the season.<br />On Saturday, Union took two from Christian Brothers. In Game 1, Roper went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two strikeouts in a 11-2 win. In Game 2, Roper went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in a 5-1 win.<br />On Sunday, Roper was 0-for-4 with two RBI as union swept Christian Brothers 9-1.

<strong>Isaac Ingram - SIU</strong><br />Isaac Ingram&#160;made it a clean sweep for the Salukis after he also won his first career MVC Indoor title in the weight throw. Ingram wasted little time proving himself worthy of the No. 1 spot as his first toss, 62'-10" (19.17m), put him in the lead, and he advanced to the final with his first of three throws that measured over 67'. His winning toss of 69'-6.25" (21.19m) came on his sixth attempt, and was just half an inch short of his personal-best.

<strong>Lucas Horton -&#160;SIU</strong><br />Horton had a qualifying time of 1:53.61 in the 800 meters during Saturday's MVC Indoor Championships in Cedar Falls, Iowa.<br />Lindsey Murray - Ole Miss<br />Murray had a seventh place finish for Ole Miss at the SEC Indoor Championships in Nashville over the weekend as the former Harrisburg state champion cleared 13-feet-7.25.

<strong>Capel Henshaw - Lewis</strong><br />Henshaw went 1-of-2 from the field to finish with 3 points in Lewis 69-62 loss to Wisconsin-Parkside Thursday night.<br />Henshaw grabbed 3 rebounds (two defensive) and finished with two turnovers and one steal in 15 minutes off the bench for the Flyers.<br />On Sunday, Henshaw went 2-for-6 from the field, including 2-for-4 from beyond the arc&#160; and 3-for-4 from the free throw line to finish with nine points as Lewis concluded the regular season with a 78-59 win over Saint Joseph's (IN).<br />Henshaw pulled down five rebounds (three defensive) in the win and tacked on two assists to go with two steals and one turnover in 24 minutes.<br />The Flyers will play Quincy in a GLVC Championship Tournament Quarterfinal match-up at a yet-to-be determined time on Thursday (March 2) at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind.<br /><br /><em>&#8211;Compiled by Michael Dann</em><br /><em>To see someone featured in "Alumni Corner" please email name, school and sport to mdann@dailyregister.com</em>
