Robert "Radar" Patton, of Shawneetown

<p class="x_MsoNormal">SHAWNEETOWN &#8211; Robert "Radar" Patton, 60, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at his home.

<p class="x_MsoNormal">He was born Nov. 29, 1956, in Eldorado, the son of John Robert and Margie Marie (Holloway) Patton, who preceded him in death. He married Nancy J. Howard on June 2, 1979.

<p class="x_MsoNormal">Radar was well known in the community, serving as police chief of Shawneetown for over 30 years. Over a span of many years, he also coached hundreds of Gallatin County children and teens in basketball, baseball and softball.

<p class="x_MsoNormal">An avid hunter, his passion was hunting coon, squirrel and rabbits.

<p class="x_MsoNormal">Radar was a member of Shawneetown Presbyterian Church, Illinois Coaches Association and Gallatin County Coon Club.

<p class="x_MsoNormal">Survivors include his wife, Nancy Patton of Shawneetown; two sons, Shane and Kylie Patton of Shawneetown and John Drake Patton, also of Shawneetown; sister, Debbie and Don Fromm of Shawneetown; and two grandchildren, Zayne Robert and Zoey Grace Patton.

<p class="x_MsoNormal"><span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1584_1717" tabindex="0">Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, in Gallatin County School, near Junction, with the Rev. Arron Phelps officiating.</span> Burial will follow in Westwood Cemetery, near Shawneetown. <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1777_1843" tabindex="0">Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 23, at the school.</span>

<p class="x_MsoNormal">In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gallatin School Scholarship Fund -- Radar Patton and sent to Gallatin County School, <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1974_2006" tabindex="0">5175 Hwy. 13, Junction, IL 62954</span>.
